The second free pattern was something I asked my Facebook followers about.
I’ve been reading some articles where NICUs are using crochet octopuses to comfort the babies. They believe the tentacles remind the baby of being in the womb with the umbilical cord. Plus the tentacles keep the baby from pulling on the wires they might have connected to their tiny bodies. It is really amazing!
Facebook said, “YES!” when I asked if they would like a pattern and video to help support, so here it is. Of course, I’m not a medical expert, so ask your local hospital if they would like these before donating.
Bonus use though: my cats love this! It’s made in one full piece so no worry of the tentacles coming loose.
I’m very excited for my newest (knit) pattern. It will be ready in a couple of days, but that didn’t stop the good folks of Craftsy to post it to the home page:
It’s so humbling to have my pattern on the front page of Craftsy.
It will be available as a single pattern (with the generous 50% discount I always have with my new patterns) as well as a Craftsy kit (all the yarn needed and pattern included) using the new and yummy Sprightly Acrylic Worsted Yarn by Craftsy.
It should be up within the next few days, so if you are subscribed to my blog, I will let you know when it available. If you aren’t subscribed, you can do so below.
P.S. The crochet version is getting a pattern update to the new improved formatting and will be introduced on the same day (with a discount too of course).
The good folks at June Cashmere sent me some cashmere love and I agreed to give my honest opinion of it.
Who Doesn’t Love Cashmere?
Of course, all cashmere is a treat. However, June stepped it up a notch with what they sent me.
The story behind June Cashmere is what sets it apart for me. The brochure pictured (which I show you in the video below) goes into the story of how the yarn gets from the goat to your hook/needles with gorgeous pictures.
The 12 beautiful colors are all organically dyed right here in the US, before being shipped to you.
The yarn comes in two weights: DK and lace. Both give enough yardage for a small accessory.
I took my June Cashmere DK and made the knit Grace Beanie.
This lacy, yet dense beanie is the perfect gift for a loved one. The intricate pattern is actually quite easy and works up quickly to make enough for all the special people in your life by the holidays.
